Spring cleaning: blinds

I usually clean my blinds when large chunks of dust fall in my face during the opening/raising process. I could probably stand to clean them better and more often. But I really don't like this chore. Maybe these tips will inspire me (and you) to take care of my vinyl (soon to be wood!) privacy protectors.

  • Dust with a microfiber cloth or a lambswool duster or an old sock. Across not up and down!
  • Use brush attachment on vacuum (I'm quite certain I don't own enough hose length to reach the tippy tops of my blinds which is usually the problem!)
  • If blinds are super duper dirty, remove and in closed position give 'em a bath in baking soda (or head outside and gently spray with hose, then softly scrub with a baking soda paste)
We'd love to hear any other fantastic and simple ideas for the dreaded chore!

done regularily, the Swiffer dusters do a great, and fast, job!

I just take them off, and stick them in the tub and shower them off in a tub of soapy warm water - seems to work great - but I love your baking soda idea - I will try it next time! (we have a removable shower head that also makes it really easy)
