RECYCLE!

for about the past 2 years, one of my kids favorite activities is making "recycle crafts". this accelerated at a ridiculous rate, so now we keep a basket full of clean and dry recyclables (boxes, and old papers, some plastic containers) along with bits of crafty items (scraps of felt, material, ribbons etc) and a little bag with scissors, glue and tape in a corner of toran's room.

this past week, the kids built houses for the little animals (webkinz) in our home. bigger boxes got broken down and then taped back together in a more pleasing shape. material bits turned into rugs, and duvets for the beds.

here ciela has "wallpapered" her house, and created an entryway. this is essentially a parent-free activity. i keep little haven out of the room (the door gets closed for these craft sessions), and the other kids go crazy! we have had mazes, bug houses (keep those outside) various weapons (good use of paper towel/toilet paper/wrapping paper tubes) and super hero costumes. such a good imagination activity and totally free! yea recycle craft!

I love these ideas. I am a recycling nut and love anything that calls for creative recycling crafts. Yeah. Happy earth day to all.
