a Tasty Savings Plan!

in case you still have colds floating around your house, i have great news! i recently read that in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine (i totally have that subscription, don't you?) they have published a new finding that honey works better than couch medicine at suppressing coughs. ok, i didn't read it in that magazine, i found it in another one i regularly read, but also just now on this website. i have felt for years that cough medicine was a total scam-never works for our family! even the "special" ones you can only get from a doctor work for only an hour or two. so here's the deal: take 1 teaspoon every 3-4 hours, for kids. and 2 teaspoons for adults. easy-peasie. don't forget though, that babies under 1 aren't allowed to taste the delicious nectar of the bees! the testing was done with a buckwheat honey, and darker honeys are reccomended over lighter, as they have more natural anti-oxidants. a great way to save $!

I knew kids cough medicines didn't work. I haven't used them for years. I will try this though!

Unfortunately I don't like honey (weird-o, I know), but I have the nastiest cough ever that's keeping me and my house up all night, so I'll try it - tonight! Thanks!

My pediatrician also recommended dark honey before bed to help their coughs. I'm so glad that you posted this!
